Joe DiSabatino is a self-taught artist. He has painted as a hobby since college, and full-time since 2010. Artists who have influenced him include Van Gogh, Matisse, Monet, Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, Franz Kline. In his paintings of Meher Baba, he tries to convey that Baba is simultaneously in physical form and beyond the material world—here and not here. He loves color and uses it to unite the figure of Meher Baba and the background into a unified whole, a pattern of divine oneness, rather than the traditional figure/background duality. Before becoming a full-time painter, Joe was a psychotherapist, teacher and management trainer. He lives in Myrtle Beach, SC.
